About desi.vote

desi.vote is a community voter guide for South Asian Americans in the ten Bay Area counties. Volunteers research the candidates and measures on the November 3, 2026 ballot and share recommendations to help busy families vote with confidence, all the way down the ballot.

How recommendations work

For each race we either recommend one or more candidates, mark candidates we don't recommend, or say there's no recommendation (often because a race is uncontested or there wasn't enough public information). For measures we recommend a YES or NO vote. "Our take" notes explain the reasoning. In the end, your vote is yours.

How the address lookup works

When you enter an address, we turn it into a map location and check which districts it falls in, using public boundary maps. We then show only the contests for those districts. Your address isn't stored or logged. Your shareable link contains only a short district code, not your address.

Some local districts don't publish boundary maps we can use. Those contests appear under "Might also be on your ballot". Always compare with your mailed ballot or your county's official sample ballot.
